....I have actually been "in remission" for all intents and purposes for the last year. However, the gassy head of IBS has reared its ugly head once again.
I've done searches on the forums and have not found any conclusive answers--What do I do when Gas-X Extra Strength and Beano do NOT work for soy-related gas?? It is so bad in here right now I have had to light an incense stick to get rid of the horrible, skunky odor. It is as if there is roadkill in here, and my stomach is so swollen it looks like a bowling ball. I am vegetarian and it is VERY hard to get protein without soy and nuts, both of which cause big problems.
Please help!!

Hi, Sorry the IBS has started back up again. I am having a really hard time right now with the C. I also have the gas and bloating that goes along with that. My stomach feels sometimes almost bigger than a bowling ball!! I know exactly how you feel. I am not sure what to tell you about the soy..I dont really take that. I take Miralax and it lately has seemed to give me more gas than usual...so who knows?? As far as I know Gas X works pretty good for me usually.

Wow! Congratulations on your remission! One year--that's great!
Sorry to hear you're having problems with gas and odor. I know that drinking cranberry juice reduces odor. Also, you could try eating soy yogurt; the active cultures in the yogurt would help to reduce the bacteria that may be causing the gas and odor AND you'd still get the protein from the soy. Have you tried any other beans or a combo of beans and grains to get protein?

I agree that probiotics could help. Also have you tried an all round digestive enzyme producvt instead of just Beano?
I assume you've tried fennel tea???
