Heather's Tummy Tea™ Fennel ~ A Medical Food for the Dietary Management of IBS

Clinical studies have shown that fennel, as part of the diet, helps regulate contractions of the small intestine and aids gas expulsion. Fennel also relaxes the gut, which can relieve spasms of the GI tract. As a result, fennel assists in the dietary management of IBS symptoms, and is exceptional for IBS bloating, gas and abdominal pain. Fennel is also a traditional digestive aid for colic, heartburn, indigestion, and stomachaches.

Heather's Tummy Tea™ is packed in very generous quantities because it is meant to be used daily as a medical food for IBS; brew a delicious cup of tea several times a day, every day, as part of your dietary management of IBS symptoms.

Heather's Tummy Tea™ Fennel is unique because it is formulated to contain a high volatile oil content and whole seed size (both factors are integral to the quality and potency of fennel); it is harvested and packaged to be as fresh as possible; and it is processed for minimal volatile oil disspation. It is the volatile oils in fennel that make it so effective for the dietary management of IBS symptoms, particularly bloating and gas.

Our fennel is certified organic and is guaranteed to be the freshest, strongest, and most delicious fennel tea available! If you're used to drinking fennel tea from store-bought tea bags, you'll find the difference in strength and taste of Heather's Tummy Tea™ nothing short of astonishing.

Fennel's primary volatile oils are are anethole, fenchone, and estragole. Anethole is known to have a relaxing effect on the intestine. Fennel also has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Fennel's documented use goes back to ancient China, and the plant is mentioned in virtually every European work on herbal medicines from ancient times to modern day. The mild licorice-flavored seeds are native to the Mediterranean, were known to the ancient Greeks, and were spread throughout Europe by Imperial Rome. In the 1st century A.D. Pliny attributed 22 healing properties to fennel. According to Chaucer, the 14th century English poet, fennel was one of the nine holy herbs of the Anglo-Saxons.

The United States once listed fennel as an official drug to be used for digestive problems, and today the herb is still used daily as an after-dinner digestive aid from India to Italy to Spain. Fennel is classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA - there are no limitations on its use as a daily digestive aid. Fennel is so safe it's even used to treat infants with colic.

Brew Heather's Tummy Tea™ ~ Organic Fennel Teabags with freshly boiled water, but do not actually boil the teabag in water as this can destroy its volatile oils, and thus its effectiveness. Fennel tea (like all of Heather's Tummy Teas™) is naturally caffeine-free, as it does not contain any actual tea leaves (tea is a specific plant, even though other herbal drinks are commonly called "teas"). The stronger you brew this tea the more effective it will be.

Fennel tea can be sweetened with a little honey or plain sugar if you wish but I also think it's delicious plain. It can be chilled into iced tea, but remember that ice-cold beverages on an empty stomach can trigger GI spasms, whereas the heat in hot teas is in and of itself a muscle relaxant. The stronger the fennel tea, the more pronounced its beneficial effects on your digestion, so don't be afraid to make a dark brew!

All of Heather's Tummy Teas™ are certified kosher. The certifying authority is the Kosher Certification Service of Los Angeles, CA, whose seal is accepted by Circle U, Circle K, Kaf-K, and others.

Heather's Tummy Tea™ Peppermint ~ For the Dietary Management of IBS

Peppermint is a cooling, calming herb that, through dietary management, helps relieve the symptoms of IBS. Clinical studies have shown that peppermint helps relieve IBS abdominal pain and spasms, diarrhea, and urgency. Heather's Tummy Tea™ is packed in very generous quantities because it is meant to be used daily as a medical food for IBS; brew a delicious cup of tea several times a day, every day, as part of your dietary management of IBS symptoms.

Heather's Tummy Tea™ ~ Organic Peppermint is unique because it is specially formulated to contain a very large leaf size and the highest possible volatile oil content (both factors are integral to the quality and potency of peppermint). We carefully select our peppermint from the most recent possible harvest date, it is processed for minimal volatile oil dissipation, and it is packed to stay as fresh as possible. It is the volatile oils in peppermint that make it so effective for the dietary management of IBS symptoms.

Our peppermint is certified organic and is guaranteed to be the freshest, strongest, and most delicious peppermint tea available! If you're used to drinking peppermint tea from store-bought tea bags, you'll find the difference in strength and taste of Heather's Tummy Tea™ nothing short of astonishing. The high potency and quality of Heather's Tummy Tea™ will be tremendously helpful for your gut, with a very noticeable soothing effect on your GI tract.

Menthol and methyl salicylate are the main active ingredients of peppermint. Internally, they have anti-spasmodic actions, with calming effects on the muscles of the stomach, intestinal tract, and uterus. They also have powerful analgesic (pain-killing) properties.

Mint is one of the oldest of herbs. It was used by the ancient Assyrians, and was common to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who recognized its pain-killing properties. The mint-after-a meal custom in fact dates back to ancient Rome, and Pliny, the first-century Roman historian and scientist, included mint in his Natural History in 77 A.D. Mint was not used formally in medicine until the mid-18th century, but mint tea has been a favorite cure for indigestion since Biblical times. Modern peppermint is actually a hybrid of water mint and spearmint, and has stronger medicinal properties than either of the two originating plants.

Peppermint tea is extremely useful for IBS cramps and relieving painful abdominal spasms. Peppermint is anti-bacterial, increases gastric juices, and helps relieves gas and nausea. Peppermint also contains essential oils that stimulate the gallbladder to secrete its store of bile, which the body uses to digest fats. This makes Heather's Tummy Tea™ ~ Organic Peppermint a wonderful digestive aid for heavy meals. It also improves the function of the muscles that line the stomach and intestines, relieves diarrhea, and has a calming, numbing effect on the entire GI tract.

Brew Heather's Tummy Tea™ ~ Organic Peppermint with freshly boiled water, but do not actually boil the teabag in water as this can destroy its volatile oils, and thus its effectiveness. Peppermint tea (like all of Heather's Tummy Teas™) is naturally caffeine-free, as it does not contain any actual tea leaves (tea is a specific plant, even though other herbal drinks are commonly called "teas").

Peppermint tea can be sweetened with a little honey or plain sugar if you wish but I also think it's delicious plain. Heather's Tummy Tamers™ Peppermint Oil Caps ~ 2 Bottles
A Medical Food for the Dietary Management of IBS

Peppermint oil capsules, as part of the diet, have been clinically proven to help IBS symptoms, even in children.

*Peppermint, as part of the diet, helps relieve abdominal pain, diarrhea, and urgency from IBS. Menthol and methyl salicylate, the main active ingredients of peppermint, have calming effects on the stomach and intestinal tract.

For this reason, Heather's Tummy Tamers™ Peppermint Oil Caps are often very helpful for people with both reflux and IBS who cannot tolerate peppermint in other forms (such as teas or foods).

*Fennel, as part of the diet, helps regulate contractions of the small intestine and aids gas expulsion. Fennel also relaxes the gut, which can relieve spasms of the GI tract. As a result, fennel assists in the dietary management of IBS gas, bloating, and abdominal pain. Fennel is exceptionally beneficial for bloating and gas.

*Ginger contains powerful digestive enzymes, and is helpful for a wide variety of gastrointestinal ailments.

Both the fennel and peppermint teas have great flavor. This is my first time to try fennel tea.
I haven't taken the peppermint capsules, yet. I didn't realize that they should be monitored by a doctor.

still uncertain
both teas taste good. the fennel is especially tasty - like licorice, like liquid twizzlers. but I'm not sure how effective they are, especially in controlling bloat and gas. the D is more under control, however I am also taking a sequestrant medication to help eliminate that particular symptom, so I can't give the peppermint or the fennel an unqualified "thumbs-up". I'm giving customer service a mid-point grade because I don't have much experience with that department yet.

Heather says:
Hi Nina,

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm so glad that you find both of our teas tasty!

Both our fennel and peppermint teas are formulated to be medicinal strength. We recommend brewing the jumbo tea bags with 8oz of water to ensure that the tea is strong enough to be as effective as possible.

To get relief from severe gas and bloating with our fennel tea, you may need to "overwhelm" your gut with the tea the first few days of use. Try drinking as much as you can, all day long, for just a few days to get on top of these symptoms. Then you can drop back to a reasonable amount of cups per day.

The peppermint tea is meant to stop pain, spasms and cramps that are related to IBS, while the peppermint capsules are more preventative. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach, 15 minutes to an hour before you eat. They also contain fennel and ginger oil, which will prevent gas and bloating. Go the tea when you need help with symptoms right now, and can't wait, or if you have a full stomach.

If you're trying to resolve D, you'll want to use the Tummy Fiber. It's a 100% organic, pure soluble fiber that resolves both D and C.

As for customer service, we would love to interact with you more! Please don't hesitate to call our toll free number: 866-640-4942 or email us at Help at HelpForIBS.com. We would love to hear from you!
