If you're seeing a yoga therapist they should be capable of giving you a single practice that will deal with IBS and stress, and also take into account all of your other individual circumstances. I just started seeing a new student with IBS/Stress tomight and have a good feeling her practice will do her the world of good (had great success with a student with Crohn's previously). The teacher/therapist should also amend that practice over time to help you progress, so don't think it will be exactly right from the start.

If you're talking about walking into a general group class or plucking a video off the shelf, there's no guarantee it will improve either, may actually make it worse depending on what "style/approach" the teacher follows.

As a general guide for IBS or similar complaints the yoga should be slow and flowing, avoiding great stress about the abdomen. Steer clear of aggressive approaches like Ashtanga Vinyasa, perhaps classes labelled Gentle or Restorative might be your best bet. Better yet, go see a yoga therapist for a one-to-one session and get a practice that is created specifically for you.

Cheers,

Scott
