Perhaps someone has experience with this and can advise. Long term IBS c, significantly improved with dietary changes. However during 5 weeks traveling abroad, unable to follow my dietary needs, I became severely constipated and resorted to laxatives. Continue to have significant problems, and in addition, a part of my colon comes out anytime I attempt to move my bowels. After procedure for hemorroids where none were found, surgeon referred me to a colon rectal specialist. However the earliest appointment is 5 weeks away! I started Heathers fiber yesterday and will continue (wish I knew about it before travel). I've already been eating a balanced fiber diet, drink water, exercise, etc but it was suggested I take Miralax. Im worried about doing this for the next 5 weeks especially since my system doesn't handle them particularly well. I'm in a particularly bad spot and wonder if others have taken tummy fiber and laxatives like Miralax together.

I'm sorry that happened, hard to travel and not eat other foods (especially new interesting foods). Just last night I included info in a replying post before yours, an excerpt from this site's page about going on the acacia soluble tummy fiber slowly while weaning off laxatives. It's from the tummy fiber page: http://www.helpforibs.com/shop/suplmts/acacia.asp Sounds like you were doing well before that travel glitch;I'm sure you will be better soon..meanwhile keeping your health in balance;).
