After the soluble wheat dextrin Benefiber, you had gone back to trying out the soluble acacia fiber (a slow fermenting prEbiotic). By that time you maybe didn't have as much die off gas, so kept going with the acacia prEbiotic type of soluble fiber, but now has become an allergy problem. Just a word for all..For any initial die off as with thereafter starting building prObiotics too especially, I've used gas relieving simethicone (as in Gax-X, but without sorbitol or other problematic additives), generic Fry's Kroger brand gelcap simethicone along with the suggested teas and the peppermint+ caps. After that, if start getting too gassy, it would be time for me to kick down to the rice non-gassy flair up regimen for about a couple days. Then cut out any suspected problem food like those darn onions or too many beans. Enzymes only go so far and too much soluble (especially if sulfuree) food fiber is still too much on a usually low residue diet.

In answer to your question: If you haven't tried this yet-For ibs-c,d,or alternating: Methylcellulose soluble fiber caplets in the Walmart generic Equate brand-much CHEAPER. Name brand is Citrucel who claims it is NON-ALLERGENIC and non-fermentable/ie no extra gas, on their website (it's true). Did the Benefiber you were on in your past post claim that? But, it won't feed the bifidus in the colon like the acacia:(. You don't have to build up as slowly; They don't say you need to. It's good to not have to take too much if you resolve with less though. Hoping you feel better.
