This is good news and also an advocacy opportunity for U.S. citizens. Next week, new regulations go into effect at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. For U.S. veterans who served in the Persian Gulf who have developed IBS or another functional GI disorder (a very large number of them!) it will now be considered a presumptive (automatic) service-connected disability. There's also Department of Defense budget money for research being considered that needs advocacy. There are more details on this in today's post on the IBS Impact blog.
