They are really ICKY!!!! I have a big garden and have tons of them outside but, luckily, they rarely venture inside my house! I bought some stuff at home depot, its a pestacid. If your kitties don't go out, sprinkle it around the outside and that should keep any more from coming in! One of my cats does go out and I just keep her in for 2 days after I put it down and it hasn't seemed to hurt her any.

I have never had one in my ear but I have been bitten by them before. About a month ago, I dug up a big clump of Iris so I could seperate it. When I broke open one of the bulbs, it was FULL of a swarm of earwigs! EEUWWW!! I dropped it and went screaming threw my yard like a little kid! A couple of them got into my gloves and bit my hands. They weren't really any worse than a really bad, big, mosquito bit. It hurt a little and itched for days! That day I went to Home Depot and bought the pesticid. The iris went into the garbage! I forgot what its called exactly but there is a picture of earwigs, along with a few other creepy crawlies right on the outside of the bag! I have been a little leary about digging anything else up in my garden!
