So there IS hope -I was one of the most SEVERE cases and came through it!

Sometimes I wonder if I should even share that, because then it sets the 'expectation' up that it takes 3 times to actually see results. However, it has proven to be the one golden nugget for those of us who take a longer time to respond - had I just given up after the first round, I would be long gone still trying meds, diets, etc. and still unwell.
Many people see help early on - some within two weeks, some half-way through (I had two people I can think of offhand that were totally IBS-free by about day 50) and others after the 100 days. Then there are more severe cases who do another round or two. But seeing as most patients have had the problem for YEARS, a few more weeks to take the journey to healing is better than staying the same and doing nothing. It is all relative - but it just helps to know that if I who had really horrific IBS could be helped, then there is certainly hope for others who are severe and even more hope for those not as bad as I was.
But because I was one of the most severe cases (you may recall, almost daily, sometimes 4 hours or more of constant cramping, pain and D), almost housebound and having IBS since 1983, it was pretty much set in my system. Added to this were other health concerns and stressors in my life. I had several surgeries, and many things in addition to IBS.
So there are many variables here. Michael told me that the IBS Audio Program sessions actually were helping me deal with the other factors in my life that were more pressing at the time. The subconscious mind does not always view what our logical and thinking brain sees as needing attention. So the sessions got me through my other illnesses and difficulties, then moved onto IBS.
Since your daughter hasnt even been on the earth as long as I have had IBS, you may be wondering why she cant eat a normal diet yet.
But she is feeling well and she is gaining weight.
Well, I do know what the problem is but I cannot share it on this forum.
The reason for this is because there are many people reading this post.
And while it the reason most likely applies to the vast majority of IBS sufferers, for some reason it is difficult to take on board.
In fact, I just spoke with a lady who had this very concern, once I spoke with her about the reason, she became totally well, and can eat almost everything, except for some dairy as she is lactose intolerant - which is NOT IBS.
Consider this.
Why is it that different foods cause different problems for IBS patients?
Why can some eat one food item with no problems, and another sufferer always has difficulty?
Why do some IBS sufferers have reactions to a 'trigger' or offending food even if they don't realize they ate it (like it is an ingredient and they didnt know it was in the food.)
Why can some IBS sufferers eat an offending food WITHOUT knowing it, and have no problem?
How can you differentiate IBS from a food allergy or intolerance? Do the foods cause IBS?
Why was I down to crackers and water - and then later to NPO (nothing by mouth) in the hospital, on anti-spasmodics and IV, and I still had severe D?
Everyone is different and yet there are the same threads running through all the stories of people I talk with all over the country, and through the various internet sources where I try to help out.
So should I say it took me 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months? How would that help you? If I gave you a time parameter, then would you watch your daughter to see if she met it, exceeded it, etc. It is a process and a gradual one. Usually one 'offending' food is introduced at a time - others have just jumped in and started eating normally without regard to it - it is personal to the situation.
If you need to know the reason that your daughter is nowhere close to her normal diet, that I have found with other IBS patients I speak with feel free to call the toll-free number for direct assistance from Michael Mahoney's associate at 877-898-2539.
And do remember, that she is better now, than she was before, progress builds on progress - there IS hope and your daughter can have a joyous IBS-free future!
Hope this helps a bit!
All the best -
