Newly Diagnosed - Trying Hypnotherapy First before or along with other treatments

Hi -
Hope we get a reply soon, but while we are waiting, I thought I would pop in with some information regarding your inquery:
Quote:
"Do you think/feel that trying the hypno first (with no strict diet, other than maybe trying to be sensible considering your own situation) might have helped you faster in the long run?
What would you advise for someone who just discovered they have IBS?"
Michael Mahoney has had this question before, and he has had several patients, as well as those doing the IBS Audio Program 100, who have had the clinical hypnotherapy as a first line of treatment.
Overall, he has consistently shown that patients who do hypnotherapy first, just upon their diagnosis, have a far easier time of things on many levels.
The symptoms have not had as much time to inbed in the subconsious, so they are easier to change, and take less time in doing so, and there is less level of frustration because this is the first thing to try, so less chance of dissappointment from treatment failure, and of course, less amount of time suffering.
I spoke on the phone with those who have completed the program before other treatments, and they did see immediate or very quick results. Some did the therapy alone, others did what their doctors suggested alongside the hypnotherapy, and then were able to discontinue the meds, etc.
Most patients who see Mike have had long-term severe refractory IBS that is resistent to treatment -the doctors' "heart sinks", he calls them. And they all wished they would have done the hypnotherapy first, because that is what ultimately helped them.
And for the newly diagnosed, most had not at that point gotten into diets, etc. so they had one less thing to 'relearn' and less impact overall on their life in that it was a shorter part of their life - a few weeks or months, vs years and years. But sadly, most doctors do not have hypno on their list of treatment protocol, though that is slowly beginning to change, as some who are aware of the 25 plus years of research, may suggest it - but usually as a last resort, like my own gastro who told me to research out the latest methods on the internet, because he ran out of options (after years and years of nothing working!)
I just created a new thread with an article regarding this very thing that may be helpful to you.
