Hi Lynx,
Feelings of helplessness and suicide can certainly be a part of IBS, but they most likely are not caused nor escalated by listening to the sessions or a part of the program. If you have been diagnosed with depression, Anxiety Disorder, etc. and are under doctor's care for this, you will need to discuss your recent return of these feelings with your doctor or therapist. The things you mention are not a normal part of the program and I doubt they are related - though I am not advising on a professional level - can't do that through cyberspace - we can only support and guide.
This is only a support group BB, and we can answer questions and concerns based on our experience and the cases that have gone before, but we can't really answer to specifics like this, especially when you are hurting this deeply now - you may need professional intervention now.
The sessions are developed to work to improve IBS over time, and they can address other aspects in your life in terms of helping you feel better about yourself in general, but they are not designed to treat depression or suicidal ideation - you will need to see a medical professional, hon - or talk to your school psychologist about this. This is over and above IBS, and needs to be addressed on its own merit.
I have a daughter who has panic attacks and so I know the angst you are going through - you just do need in person intervention with these feelings you have shared here - it is beyond the program. The program is designed to keep you safe and will should not make you feel worse.
Please let me know if you can get some extra help for these resurfaced feelings. If you described IBS coming back, then I would say, that could be a component of the program, as sometimes folks go back and forth a bit until they have a balance, but that shouldn't be for suicidal thoughts.
Please let me know how you are doing- I am worried and concerned for you and I hope you get this addressed.
I doubt it would "hurt" you in any way to continue with the program, as these things may subside, but talking to a medical professional is your next best step. Once you have done that, then ask us again, and perhaps I can ask Mike as well what would be best for you...
Keep in touch, hon. (((HUGS)))
