You are NOT a quitter. There is absolutely nothing wrong with moving back home and taking on-line courses until you can get a handle on this. I have had IBS since I was a child, so I have had a long time to learn to deal with it. You are just beginning, but believe me, you will find a way. I went to college and had my bad moments, but all and all, I had a wonderful experience.

With IBS, something you will come to understand is that the more control you have, the better you feel. If you can control what you put into your mouth, it relaxes you so much. Friends and their families must be educated, and if those friends don't hear you, then they are not much of a friend in the first place, now are they?

Can you attend college close to home? Or do you have a particular college in mind? I went 2 years at my local community college and then went elsewhere to complete my education. You can do this. It seems you have a handle on your diet and what you can eat, so you must be strong when people try to guilt you into eating otherwise. I finally got to the point where I said NO, I will not eat that and if you don't like it, TOUGH! You have to stand up for yourself, or you will continue to be in pain.

You CAN do this. There are ways and you will find them. Most of us do. Don't let your dreams die out of fear.

Are you IBS D, C, or A?
