Hello,
I'm very new to the diet and have realised I need to 'break the cycle' starting ASAP!

Do I need to start with instant oatmeal tomorrow morning or is normal rolled oats cooked into oatmeal OK?
>One of the menus in "The First Year: IBS" book has folks starting out with Rice or Corn Chex and then the next day, either a white wheat bagel with a smidgen of peanut butter or "instant" oatmeal plus the mentioned fruits on both days.

Also, I have just boiled a lot of baby new potatoes... is it OK to eat them without the skin or do I need to stick to baked potatoes as mentioned by Heather in the 'what to eat when you can't eat anything' food list?
>Baked potato on that list?;Baked with NO peel is safe.

And finally I have gluten free pasta made from maize and white rice flour. Would that be OK whilst breaking the cycle or should I stick to the 100% durum wheat white pasta?

>white wheat or white rice pasta;I've done just a true/reflected in the no fat cornmeal/maize-meal? with 1g or less fiber per avg serving. Corn with bran has always bothered my ibs-d.

Thanks in advance and sorry if these questions have already been answered!
I did try and search but then decided it was better to be safe than sorry as I've been living through a major IBS attack without realizing what has been going on for too long to admit to!
>Just wishing someone would have been able to reply earlier.

P.S. is chicken breast / white fish / tofu out of the question for the next few days?
>I would "hold off on too much total fiber for the day" that could be in some tofus until stable. Mori Nu silken lite-low fat is mostly protein and no fiber for a protein and/or in desserts source. Starting out, it's like a low residue diet until excess irritating gas and spasming stabilizes. Always need to drink enough water to move fiber through consistently throughout day is important. Please let us know if your tendency is ibs-d, c, or a for "alternating," in an ongoing created signature line for yourself that is helpful.
>Thanks for your patience!
