Sounds like you have the book The First Year: IBS hopefully;Makes things easier:

Formally diagnosed on Monday after 7 years of issues. Trying to take all of the info in and want to make sure I'm understanding things correctly.

So, typically, one can safely consume a food item that contains wheat flour (not whole wheat) like flour tortillas, yes?
>Yes, white flour tortilla, but without lard type fat and only 20-25% as fat calories

In looking at a few different crackers today at the store, most of them contain only wheat flour and no dairy. Can these be safely consumed? I was thinking crackers would be easier to carry around than rice to prime my digestive system if I end up in a social situation where there is nothing to utilize for that need. Specifically, I was looking at Saltine crackers, Club crackers (original), and Ritz crackers.
>or pretzels, grahams, rice crackers or rice cake with small banana or apricots;Make sure fat calories are only 20-25% of total calories in snacks and meals, or even fat free if fat is a trigger.

Also, we have the following waffle mix in our pantry: http://www.krusteaz.com/pancake-and-waffle-mixes-products-46/belgian-waffle-mix-97#!ingredientstab . Would this be okay to eat, maybe with a little peanut butter for insoluble fiber and protein?
>The fat is 37% once they're made and you'd probably be eating them at the beginning of the day when your stomach is really empty so the fat might really trigger you, especially with even more fat in the smidgen of peanut butter you might be adding. You could replace with egg white and lower the oil too in the instruction.

Also, is all-purpose flour okay? Or do I need to specifically look for a white flour (that would be different than AP flour)?
>A white all purpose and enriched hopefully and unbleached flour is healthiest.

Thank you,
Beth
