Parasite screens need to be done before an IBS diagnosis is made, because intestinal parasites can cause similar symptoms. If you have parasites you can be treated for that, and symptoms should resolve.

IBS is a brain gut disorder, not related to any bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infection, and all of those issues should be tested for and ruled out before an IBS diagnosis can be made.
