Hi friends,

I wanted to create this post after finding a thread from 2011 by fennelgwl123, titled, "Follow the SAME TREATMENT GUIDELINES for IBS as for SPLENIC FLEXURE SYNDROME?"

I am truly grateful to the original contributer for her detailed report of her health and struggles. It made me feel much less isolated, which is the wonderful benefit of threads like this

I started to develop the same symptoms as fennelqwr123 in the last six months, worsening in severity in the last 60 days. I had no idea what was going on, and was terrified of organ failure or cancer, but threads like this one lead me to IBS, and from IBS forums I found a link to parasites.

After positive tests, I am currently on a parasite cleanse regime recommended by my health care provider. Like fennelqwr123, I have experienced the symptoms of dehydration since childhood, which leaves a body especially prone to parasitic infection.

Though I admittedly reside in Asia, parasites are no longer just the plight of foreign travelers. This is an excellent website for information on the IBS connection, which is only now beginning to gain research interest internationally: www.ibs-solutions.co.uk . It's a bit commercial, but very thorough - take the honey and keep your money

If you have not investigated the possibility of a parasite link for your IBS, I highly recommend you get tested. Make sure that your doctor has up-to-date testing available, and ask for a broad spectrum.

The parasite cleanse I have chosen involves naturally sourced ingredients and a moderate change to my diet. The supplements were very affordable, and easy to find. Don't allow people to terrify you into 90 day fasts or cleanses with expensive bottles of this and that! Look for the three key ingredients: wormwood, black walnut, and cloves. Use an anti-parasite together with psyillium husk or a gentle herbal laxative to clear all the little suckers out thoroughly.

Seven days on, a week rest, and another seven to "tidy up" is a very effective regime. The side effects feel a lot like the onset of IBS, with a rest on the week in between.

If this interests you, I highly recommend that you find someone locally who you trust to guide you through the process of a cleanse, including suggested dosage and support. Look for a friendly health store employee, a nutritionist, Naturopath or GP in-the-know. It's important to have compassionate, knowledgeable support, and not use the internet as a guide if you can help it.

Has anyone else looked into the link between IBS and parasites? Any success stories, precautionary tales or interest in this topic?

I'll report back with results

All the best out there x
