Years ago, I was given Cholestyramine (used for lowering cholesterol) and almost immediately noticed it had a positive affect on my IBS-D. Unfortunately it was short lived, about a week or two. Of course I was curious but as could be expected, any doctor I mentioned this to could not be bothered to care or pursue it. I've always wondered and thought there was a definite connection (in my case) with Bile acids and my IBS. So now I see Heather's most recent post about the Bile-IBS link (in the Research Library section) and am very curious to know if this applies to anyone else and what your knowledge/experience if any may be?

Some discussion I found the other day on ibsgroup.org:
Bile. You can leave the 1st poster "legbuh" a message through their profile to ask a question; They had posted on this subject in August. Some more interesting comments are below that 1st post as well.
For sure..if one has had their gallbladder taken out, Heather said in her book that the medicine prescribed for that would be Questran (other name for what you took) to keep bile from irritating the colon, if I understood her correctly. Don't know if bile can be irritating colon for some other reason if possible?
