Some manuf. say not to take if eating just a salad or fruit and especially don't take higher mg worth if not eating much protein or before eating on an empty stomach, which all contribute to stomach burning. There's the lowest @ 350mg I've seen on shelves. All contained at least pepsin additionally.
If stomach is not use to higher acid amt., especially if lead previously to think one had too low stomach acid with similar symptoms without doctor doing a test first and/or had been taking things to cause stomach even less acid, then definately slowly graduate up. Your stomach kicks down acid output during H. Pylori infection. Too little acid can cause microbial overgrowth. Food needs to be sanitized by adequate stomach acid. i've read: Calcium in the different active yogurts help some good bacteria get through. Acidophillus in greek means acidic loving.
