I have not run across on this website anything about Gastric ByPass and IBS. I have had IBS since I was diagnosed at 22, I'm 62 now. I had to have the bypass done to lose enough weight to have back surgery which I did. My back is okay now, but the IBS is out of control. My gastroenterologist is so mad at me for having he bypass that she won't help me with the IBS.

I've been searching the internet for help and found this web site. EVERYTHING I have stumbled upon by myself is here! Here in this website. It has taken me 40 years to figure out some of the information here.

This is like finding gold at the end of the rainbow! I started on benefiber yesterday, I took the fennel out of my herb rack and made a tea out of the crushed seeds and I've been drinking peppermint tea like crazy for the last 2 years because it make me feel better.

Tomorrow morning I'll be at the only natural foods store in our area to see if I can get the fennel tea and peppermint capsules. I found the Altoids and they really work!!! I feel like I've been given parole from the bathroom!

However, my question to everyone and Heather, can I fully control the IBS since my intestines have been re-routed by the By-Pass? I had been told that for most of IBS patients that the By-Pass cures IBS. Not so for me. It has made it horribly worse. I've developed uncontrollable diarrhea. Even the prescription meds have not stopped it. I've been through every test and my gastro and Bariatric Surgeon have just thrown their hands up and said they've done all they can do. I have to learn to live with uncontrollable diarrhea. I just can't accept that. I am so glad I found this web site.

I do have certain foods I have to eat to keep my immune and blood healthy. One is whey based protein supplements because I am allergic to soy. I've found one that does not seem to provoke gas or cramps. It is sweetened with stevia.

I need help with other foods so I don't gain weight back. I need help.
