There are more methods to fluoridating the public beside putting it in the water. Many countries that don't fluoridate the water put it in the salt in stead. Some other countries have issues of natural fluoridation.

I still believe that fluoride intake is a likely link to IBS and many health problems. The idea of fluoridating water and salt came about in 1909 and has not been properly revisited since then. What other medical or dental methods do we use that have not undergone even some kind of change or scrutiny since 1909? It's simply bad science if it doesn't undergo a constant process of scrutiny.

I also disagree with the frequency of occurrence of IBS you stated. It has been shown to not be the same among different populations. If I come across the studies that I have read, I'll post them.

I'd also like to point out that the supposed purpose of fluoridating food supplements has been to reduce cavities. However, it has been shown in some studies that the benefit of fluoride only results from topical application, while there is still this issue of causing dental fluorosis. That benefit is still in question, as it is argued that general oral hygiene and the type of food consumed is what contributes to cavities or lack there of, regardless of fluoride being used.

So if it doesn't help our teeth why is it in our water and salt, and therefore in our food? It's pretty foolish to ignore a substance that is more toxic than lead when trying to determine the factors of IBS.

On a note supporting my idea (and an idea many others have), in the last week, after reducing my intake of fluoride containing products (water, toothpaste, and food), I've started to feel better. I still have my set backs, but I actually feel less of the pain that I usually do, and my bowel movements are becoming much more regular. I was even able to have alcohol without much of a problem, and I usually restrict all access to it due to my reactions. This isn't due to a psychosomatic effect, either. I've gone through so many things believe that "This is it! This will finally help!" without any improvement.

If it can help even just a few people, why not be open to it?
