I arranged a 50th birthday last year and had to find good, inexpensive accommodation in TO for the out-of-towners so I may be able to suggest some good B&B places for people to stay ... maybe about Cdn. $60 to $70 per night with ensuite bathroom and breakfast. There is also a motel near the airport that rents ensuite rooms for about $60. There is also a "reasonably-priced" downtown hotel offering one-bedroom suites with cooking facilities (near Bloor and Yonge) for about $110 per night. It could easily be shared -- a friend stayed there with four others last year.
Dining is a problem, as you know. The only place I can eat out at is a Japanese restaurant because I can get plain steamed rice, plain fish and plain veggies. But most people are probably able to tolerate much more than me so it would probably be best to let me know what type of food to aim for and I could try and find some decent places that have lots of patience for special orders ... and lots of bathrooms!
Alternatively, perhaps people could cook at my place. Last year I bought an old, neglected house (that no one else wanted!) which is currently being renovated and which will be mostly completed by May. Both the livingroom/diningroom and basement rec room (which is a walkout to the backyard) will hold a large number of people. I co-own the house with a friend, who is doing the renovation work. Yes, there are four bathrooms, but if you had seen them when we took possession, you would not have been impressed! Fortunately, all of the lemon yellow tiles and almost all of the 1960ish "Spudnik" lamp fixtures are gone now!
Yes, the CN Tower is a good destination. Other interesting places would include Chinatown, the Danforth, Yorkville, Harbourfront, the Beaches, the brewery/film district, etc., not to mention "nearby" tourist spots like Niagara Falls (your area) and St. Jacobs/Elmira near Kitchener/Waterloo.
Yes, I guess we would need to put together an agenda, but perhaps we could allow a little time for people to do their own thing too. There is great night entertainment here, including wonderful theatre. Small theatre is quite inexpensive (sometimes not much more than going to the cinema), but, of course, big theatre is very expensive, with good tickets often costing over Cdn. $100.
