Triple A auto club says don't bother packing a hair dryer or iron on your trip. Almost all hotels now have them.
I'd like to go one step further and say that checking on your hotel's web site is the best way to see what amenities they have.
(When I made my reservations the young man over the phone said that trying to find a hotel in Las Vegas with an INDOOR pool was almost impossible. But in Vegas nearly all of them are heated so it really doesn't matter.)
