I would definitely recommend a colonoscopy. I suppose she was on antibiotics with the food poisoning?? I'm not sure of the protocol for that. If so, I highly suspect she has a fungal condition contributing to her colitis symptoms. She may wish to experiment with an antifungal diet, if so. I had colitis for 8 years and it was an antifungal program including diet change and supplements that helped me get well again. Colitis symptoms and joint pains often have a fungal/yeast etiology.

What does she typically eat right now? She may wish to try eliminating all grains and foods with processed sugar to see if she gets relief.
