FIrst I am sorry to hear about your husband and your troubles. If your new to this board you will find this site and board to be a life saver as it has for most of us. If you are new to the board if so I highly Recommend this thread to help you understand SF and IF and how to eat them properly.. http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/how_to_eat.asp

The cheat sheet is also there and I keep it on my fridge.
http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/cheatsheet.asp to get you eating the right foods in the right order which can help stabilize you and off on the right track to feeling better. I have had the mucus before too nothing to be too concerned about your bowels are just upset to say the least. Brussle sprouts are very gassy and are a in the IF category. Without and SF first they can be dangerous. I am IBS A which is like you you alternate between the 2. The diet has helped a lot although I still have problems here and there I am A TON better than I was 6 months ago before really becoming active and learning on this site. I used to be In PAIN doubled over on the toilet suffering from C and then D with Mucus too. BLOATED looking 4 months PG terribly and nauseated. The most I have now is the nausea sometimes, and in the AM I can tend to have a bit of Loose B but not a lot like before. I use peppermint tea also which is a GODSEND. took some getting used to but along with the diet it is my saving grace. I dont eat Dairy , red meat or any triggers and I am no on the pot anymore doubled over. ALL of this made me realize what I thought all along that it was IBS. So I did what they said here and again IM 90% better so try it.. If you don't see improvement and you haven't seen a Doc you should just to give you peace of mind. I wish you the best feel free to IM me or ask more on the board so many helpful people here to help support you.

--------------------
IBS C Mostly .. More stable than ever Since being on the IBS diet! I THANK GOD FOR THIS BOARD! I can alternate to IBS A at times of stress, hormones or anxiety. LACTOSE INTOLERANT
