I guess I would have to ask how long your daughter has had the symptoms. Sometimes the disease has progressed too far to have a 100% "healing" of the colon. As well, what other therapies/treatments have you tried? Have you tried a diet change? Generally speaking, there can be value to these wholistic treatments. For me, after having 8 years of UC, I changed my diet (antifungal) along with the natural antifungal supplements, and got well again....no symptoms or meds. It is definitely worth a try for your daughter, especially if the other option is surgery. There can be a fungal cause for CD and UC, as well as IBS. Also, some have tried "The Maker's Diet" and have averted surgery. Have you looked into anything like that? As well, the "Specific Carbohydrate Diet" has helped many.

I am a believer that CD and UC symptoms may be, but not always, a result of using antibiotics and/or feeding the overgrown yeast/fungus in our body with processed/ high carb foods such as grains and sugar. Grains such as wheat and corn are commonly contaminated with fungal poisons. Was your daughter ever on antibiotics?

www.knowthecause.com may be a informative resource for you to read. An antifungal diet is found under FAQ, if you are interested in trying that route. Probably similar to what the wholistic doctor would advise. As well, this link gleans a bit of info on the fungus link to IBD:

Put 'crohn's disease fungus' in a search engine and see what you come up with.

Is your daughter currently on probiotics? Restoring ones bowel flora is key with IBD.

I would try all other options before surgery, but that is just me. Good luck..........
