I have crohns. I am not a doctor.
It sounds like a flare up of your colitis to me. I would get a second opinion if you are unhappy with what he told you. I wouldn't be happy with such a "easy" over the phone dx. I haven't passed allot of mucus but I have been told that is a symptom of active colitis.

Is your blood bright red or is it a darker maroon color? Bright red means hemorrhoids(either internal or external) maroon colored means bleeding from the inside. Is the blood mixed in with your mucus/stool or is it on the paper/on top of what you passed? On top points to hemorrhoids and mixed in points to farther up (i.e. colon, small intestine).

Go see someone who will listen to you a little better. Just because you had a "clean" colonoscopy doesn't mean it didn't come back since then. IBD is tricky.
