Both my MIL and Mum eat it and have also never had a problem. In fact, in years of knowing plenty of vegetarians, I haven't come across one person who had an adverse reaction to it. Having said that, I see no reason why people could not be allaergic to it - you can find somewhere someone who is allergic to pretty much any food! And they're right that it's not actually mushrooms, so IBSers should treat it like any new food (e.g. soy) and not go overboard at first. Also, people do tend to be very lax about it as it's not meat when it comes to storage etc. There is no reason why you couldn't get food poisoning from ill-prepared/stored Quorn! IMHO, this is all b******t. We are very safety concious over here - I mean, I can't get a load of drugs suggested in the US for Fibro because the UK people don't think they're safe enough!
