I need to start one for a urinary infection, and I have tried to search the board and have a terrible time finding anything on this. So any advice is helpful!

Hi.
If you havn't started the anti-biotic yet, I would say you should take bactrim. Know that either one will make you sick, but I remember taking macrodatin a couple times and it would make me sick even before the time my digestive system went south on me. Macrodatin is a stronger antib-biotic also, so more likely to kill even more good bacteria in your gut. I had taken the macrodatin drug for UTIs that were resistant to bactrum - either way - take the whole prescription as directed by the doctor, even if you start to feel better before it's over. Not finishing a bactrum prescription once was what started me on a course of antibiotic resistant UTIs - not a good place. Take the meds, take them all and get better soon!

Thanks! That's my biggest fear, is getting something I can't treat now. I am going to try to do some natural things with cranberry and acidolpolus.

I have UC not IBS. I had a urinary tract infection a few months ago and I found that CIPRO was very effective in treating it and did not upset my stomach. My GI said that CIPRO is good for people with UC as it tightens the stool so this may be an option unless your IBS-C.
