Pages: 1 antibiotics       #103996 - 09/05/04 01:15 PM Edit Reply Quote salp13 Reged: 05/01/04 Posts: 10 hello all i may be starting antibiotics here sooner then later and am very nervous. last time i took them, i had terrible "d" for about a week which was very unplesent. is there anything you can take in conjunction w/ antibiotics to alleviate the risk of "d"? thanks for the help. KEEP taking them after the course of antibiotics finish....I only took mine for the ten days I was on antibiotics and I got such terrible diarrhea as soon as I stopped them. It would be a good idea to continue taking them anyway, as they can help some people with ibs. I take Jarrodophilus EPS twice a day and I think it is helping me...another good brand is VSL#3. Good luck!! Oh if you are prone to diarrhea on antibiotics you may also consider sticking to a very simple binding diet (white bread, applesauce, bananas, white rice etc) whilst you are on them to combat any possible d!! -------------------- Feel the fear and do it anyway! I've been on it before for my diverticulitis. Actually, I had Big D with the UTI, but since taking the Flagyl, the UTI is going away, and so is the Big D. I don't have a problem with antibiotics; they're a Godsend when you need them! And I'd sure rather have D than the UTI (although, as I said, before taking the antibiotic, I had BOTH! ARGGGH!!!). After I finish my course of antibiotics, I'm going back on my probiotics. Goferit!
