Not sure if anyone else on here has had to deal with recurring urinary tract infections? I've never had one until suddenly end of August I ran to the clinic and was told I have one. I didn't think much of it but then I got another one a week and a half later. And then I just got one this past weekend. Nothing has changed to cause these, and the only answer seems to be to put me on antibiotics (ugh!).

I also don't have any symptoms of pain, just urgency, frequency, pressure and had a slight fever with two of them. Just wondering what I should ask my doctor to do? Sometimes the symptoms seem so vague I probably have them for a couple days before finally getting on antibiotics. It's worrying me to just run to the clinic every time I feel urgency.

Anyone else been through this? Any advice? I know all the precautions to take to prevent one but nothing seems to work.

Thanks everyone for listening

Oh, I feel sorry for you, yuck on the antibiotics. If you are taking baths, stop. The bubble bath is not good for UTI's. Are you drinking cranberry juice? I have a little each night mixed with water. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey,

I am oh too familiar with UTIs. I have had 3 UTIs within the past 2 months and have been put on antibiotics everytime. Only with my UTIs, I got a lot of pain, burning and urgency. Do they always check your urine to see what bacteria agent is causing these? Also, make sure youre taking enough antibiotics and strong enough. Not all antibiotics work so well for everyone. When I have a UTI 2 months ago, my doc put me on a antibiotic. I took all of them, but they werent strong enough. I thought my UTI went away because the symptoms disapeared. However, a few weeks later, I got a kidney infection and had to go to the ER. The doc said that my UTI really never went away because the antibiotics were not strong enough to kill it off and so the infection spread to my kidney. Then, I had to go on HIGH dosage antibiotics treatment until my kidney infection went away. SO just make sure that you know exactly what bacteria is causing the UTIs and make sure that the antibiotics kills all of the infection, otherwise it will just come back or even worse, spread to your kidneys!! ALso, taking a probiotic may help with the diarrhea that often comes along with antibiotic treatment. If you havent done so yet, try the antibiotic Levequin- it is the only antibiotic that is good enough to completely knock out my UTIs/Kidney infection.

Thanks for posting, I am thinking that maybe the infection is just not going away. My doctor has the culture results from my second one and should be getting the results from my 3rd one. So she did prescribe the proper antibiotics for the 2nd one and may change my current antibiotic when she gets the results for the 3rd one. My urine samples have shown clear results every time inbetween these infections so it may be that it's going away enough to not show up, but not completely getting out of my system. I guess if the 3rd infection is the same bacteria as the 2nd, then we'll know for sure. I have a follow up with my doctor tomorrow so I think I'll really enforce the issue with her that maybe they just aren't going away.

I was already taking a probiotic and am continuing it throughout the antibiotic treatments. I'm dealing ok with the IBS symptoms, just worried why I can't get rid of these infections.. I do have a feeling she'll recommend a longer stronger antibiotic treatment, which at this point I'm going to agree with. I don't want to end up with it spreading to my kidneys!

Hope my appt tomorrow is productive..

Yeah I've done pretty much all the precautions I could find for UTIs. Cranberry juice tastes so bad without sugar! wow.. lol

yea, to me it sounds as though your initial UTI never went away it just hid for a little bit then came back after you stopped antibiotic treatment. Let us know how youre doing and if the bacteria that caused the UTI is the same bacteria that caused the 3red one. hope youre feeling better real soon!

My last culture came back negative. My second culture had been positive but was not a usual bacteria that would cause a UTI. My first time I didn't get a culture (not going back to a clinic for that again..)

So.. because of the fever and my IBS, and the fact that I've had no tests to rule out Chrons, my doctor wants to investigate that further. I'm a bit scared, actually terrified but really she told me it won't make much of a difference on how I'm living. I've had IBS symptoms for so long that if it is Chrons hopefully it's mild and never causes me too much trouble.

Other than that she said if I get a fever again to come back and we'll try to figure out what is causing it. Without a fever or symptoms today, it's hard to say what it is.

And throughout all of this I've still had urgency with urinating so if that happens again, I'm to go see a specialist for that.

I'm scared, and a bit pissed off at myself for never getting the proper tests done to rule out other things. Hope this all comes back negative and everything gets better from here.
