Please help! I have been trying soluble fiber powers, Metamucil and Citracel and both are causing my eyes to dry out and it looks like eczema. My lids are turning red and my eyes hurt. I am even getting dry patches all over my body. I backed off taking the supplements and it goes away, then I try just 1/2 scoop once a day but it seems to be coming back. I have increased my water intake substantially but to no avail. Please help!?!?!?

Hmm Personally I've not heard of this before but maybe the citrucel and the metamucil have a common ingredient that causes the irritation. You could try benefiber or the supplement sold on this site. I'd be inclined to go with the tummy fiber since it's meant to have no fillers and it's very tolerable.

Did you use any of the artificially flavored products? I know some artificial flavorings irritate my sisters eczema.

It is possible you have an allergy to these soluble fibers (pysillum husk in Metamucil and methylcellulose in Citrucel) or one of the additional ingredients particularly if they are flavoured and contain things like artificial food coloring or artificial sweetners.

Are you using plain Citrucel and Metamucil powder or are you using one of the flavoured versions?
