Does anyone know if hominy is safe for IBS? I would think that it is, since it is basically corn without the hull and germ, but I do wonder about it being treated with lyme(lime?). Any thoughts?

Groucho: "Watchya eating?"
Chico with his mouth full: "Grits."
Groucho: "That's a lot of bowls you got there."
Chico ignores him.
Groucho: "How many do you have?"
Chico stops stuffing his face: "What?"
Groucho: "I said how many?"
Chico: "That's right Hominy."
Groucho looks annoyed at the camera.

I always thought Hominy was a kind of wheat, as in Cream Of Wheat.

Hominy grits contain about 11.4 grams of dietary fiber per 100 grams of which 7.9 grams is IF and 3.5 grams is SF (see table ). It is high in IF. However, Quaker Old Fashion Grits only have 1 gram of dietray per serving

The lye or other alkaline solution used to remove the husk is completely washed away. The process is called nixtamalization
