I just started taking lexapro. It's almost within the hour after I take it that I get d (I'm alternating). It's only been two days, just wondered if anyone else had the same issue then it evened out.

Ps. I'm taking this for anxiety and not IBS, even though I have IBS. I am also seeing a conselor and going to a grief support group for help. I was VERY hesitant to take the anti depressant, so I'm only taking a half dose now

You might want to read this. 95 percent of the bodies serotonin is found in the gut.

When they first started studying prozac they found it could cause D, because the drug was effect the guts release of serotonin.

In IBS they now know the 5ht 3 receptor that releases serotonin is not functioning properly. So the release of it can cause d or c or d/c.

I had D when starting Lexapro. It's one of those temporary side effects that you'll have until your body gets fully used to the drug. I only had it for the first week or so, but it can take up to a month or so for your body to adjust. The benefits are well worth putting up with it, though. Trust me on this one. I have GAD and PTSD, and Lexapro helped me a million times more than therapy could.

Good luck!

Eric and Atomic Rose.. Thanks for your input. Isn't it amazing just how incredibly complex our bodies are to perform our daily functions.
