Black olives are high in fat, but they contain monounsaturated and EFA. We do need some fat in our diets and they're a better choice since they're good for our general health. Just make sure you don't eat too many olives and that you eat them according to the "How to Eat for IBS" guidelines. 10 Commandments of Eating for IBS

I find I can tolerate them in small amounts and with SF, because they are rather high in fat.

I'm eating a couple right now with mashed potatoes.

The fat in olives are very similar to avocados - good fat, not greasy, oily fat. Since most black olives are cured, they tend to be a bit softer, so...I'd say yes.

I've had black olives several times since the diagnosis, and they have not bothered me. I love to top my guacamole with some chopped black olives, especially on a baked potato with salsa. YUMMY!

OOooohhhh, that sounds soo yummy!! I did have a VIOLENT attack the next day after eating these, so I banned them from "my" safe-foods list for the time being. They didn't bother me while I was stable, but being so unstable right now, they hurt me really bad!!! Found out the hard way!!
