bad cough

HELLO EVERYONE; I picked up a bad cough somehow?, on my holiday, and I was just wondering if a bad dry cough could somehow have an effect on IBS. I mean in the way it might unsettle your system and also your stomach. ANY COMMENTS welcomee.

I don't think that a cough alone would do much to cause problems with IBS. Although any illness can cause stress on your body as a whole, I think a cough alone wouldn't hurt you too much.
If you start to take any medications for the cough, that would have an effect though. I know that I can't take NyQuil or many other cold/flu meds without have GI upset later. Maybe just some rest and appropriate fluids would help. I know that tea is always soothing for me when I have a cough or chest congestion.

Try gargling with a bit of salt diluted with warm water. That helped me. Good luck.

Hi Louise,
I am just getting over a terrible cold myself and the cough seems to be hanging on.
I originally tried Vicks Cough Formula. But nothing stopped it. And also - I got a terrible IBS attack from all the medicines I was taking to work towards a cure! LOL
I would suggest maybe some cough drops only when it becomes unbearable.
That's what I have been doing and it seems to loosen up now.

thanks everyone for your suggestions. I saw my doctor and he put me on pennicilin and I am starting to feel better. Iam finally getting some decent sleep. By the way, did anyone read my last post(triggers).
