Amtrak switches over to via rail once over the border in Canada. You might want to look into even driving to Sarnia or Windsor not sure what part of MI you guys are in and finding a safe place to leave your car, it would save money and time not having to go cross border on the train. When I lived in Sarnia I took the train to Chicago and it was way cheaper to get a ride to the Port Huron train station then get on in Sarnia. Just some ideas but you may also want to get a ride to the closest station instead of leaving your car. lol do i make any sense today?
