Hello, updates since last post. Met with my specialist, he believes that I'm not getting any better and surgery is the only option. I have a vy detailed diary of my health including regulatity. He told me if any surgeon seen this the only option they would believe is surgery to rectify. That was on Tuesday this past week. Once again I told him I was not prepared for surgery, I believe that time will eventually heal with his help and naturopath ways (he was not impressed). He did tell me the other "option" of meds by injection that I mentioned previously. This is called "Remicade", the $1,000 a shot treatment and covered he claims by most Canadian benefit providers. We will wait and see, I told him to give me another month of the "immurane", before we move on. As we spoke in more detail of the surgery option he told me to just be "okay with a bag". I'm not okay with that option and mentioned that I have read up on the "j-pouch option". He told me that this type of surgery is very specialized and I would have to seek a specialist in this field if I was interested. I told him I researched this option and found out that success rates were not all that great ( in the (U.K. about 55%), however maintaining or still having a full system caught my attention as this may benefit in years to come when there is a cure!! He told me of a specialist in Toronto that he knows personally and would get me an appointmet for consultation. This doctor he said is one of the leading specialists in North America at Mt. Sianii hospital, her name is Dr. Robyn Mc Loed (not sure on spelling, sorry). At the time of my visit I told him not much has changed, I have noticed that my return to work has made an effect on my condition (passing of blood and number of movements per day). The doctor said he would not write me off work again as he believes that we proved stress from work has proven negative impact on my health and would only come back upon return again. So, I'm taking it slowly, did not work the Thursday or Friday in the office. Taken a lot of calls and emails including today that made me boil!! Had my wife coach me down from the highs, take it in stride, "easier said than done". In case I have not mentioned earlier, live in southern Onatrio, the heartland of the automtive industry. I'm a manager of a very large automotive supply company employing more than 1,000 employees. Stress is the name of the game in this part of town! One other note, I have had this constant stomach ache the last 2-3 weeks in the morning when I wake for a few hours. Mentioned to the doctor this contion, no recommendation. My wife and I re-visited my notes and discovered that the specialist had stopped me from taking Pantalock mid January. My wife suggested taking it again to see if it made a difference (prescribed to me to settle my stomach), well, it makes a difference, started this past Wednesday night. That's my update, hope someone can benefit (yes, insomnia still exists with prednisone...) Take care all....Jimmy |
